Update your Digital Publishing Tools in InDesign

If you work with the Digital Publishing Suite in InDesign CS5 or CS5.5, then you need to update the tool set.

On Sep. 1, an update was announced that updated the Overlay Creator panel, Folio Builder panel and the Content Viewer. Here is a quick list of what's new:

  • Custom viewers for PlayBook With the Viewer Builder
  • Enhanced scrollable frames: You can now create scrollable content by pasting a text frame into a container frame. In addition, the performance of scrollable frames has improved. See Create scrollable frames using Pan Only.
  • COOL: Hyperlinks in scrollable frames Hyperlinks and hyperlink buttons in Pan Only scrollable frames are now supported.
  • Preview on Device You can copy folio information directly to a connected mobile device without going through the acrobat.com web client. Until an updated Adobe Content Viewer is available in the App Store, the Preview on Device feature works only with Android devices. This initial offering requires additional setup effort. Apply Paragraph Styles Automatically While Typing Using Next Style

Ever heard of the "next style?" Suppose you have a headline style applied to text you just typed in, then you press Enter or Return. You can tell InDesign to switch to the next style (say a body style), automatically. You can also apply a style and next style to text that is already on the page!
